Awareness Campaign Conducted by AKP on the Prevention of Child Trafficking – (June 2024)

On 22nd June of 2024, Aasha ke Pankh conducted a crucial awareness program titled “Are You Worried About Your Child’s Safety?” at Bharitiya City, Bangalore. The session addressed the growing concerns regarding children’s social media usage, online safety, and the alarming issue of child trafficking, which sees about forty thousand plus children abducted on a yearly basis, according to the National Human Rights Commission of India. The event featured an expert certified by the Government of India, Ministry of Home Affairs, Mr Crd. Ashok VM Kumar, who shared his first-hand experiences from the various rescue operations he has assisted in. In addition to this, the event focused on teaching parents and guardians on the various strategies used to spot early signs of child trafficking. The session mainly focused on the two key issues listed below:

  1. Cyber safety for children: Tips on how to safeguard kids’ online activities and monitor their social media interactions.
  2. Safety measures online: How to protect children from predators and ensure their digital footprint remains secure?

The session was an interactive one, and provided extremely valuable insights on the above topic, offering parents practical tools to prevent their children from falling victim to trafficking or online exploitation.
